What is a DIN rail?

A DIN rail is a 35-mm mounting rail which is also known as a top hat rail

The dimensions of the rail are specified in the DIN EN 60715 standard. The name “top hat rail” comes from its U-shaped profile, which looks like the outline of a hat.
DIN rails are 35 mm wide and 7.5 or 15 mm high. The material that the rails are made of can be 1 mm or 2.3 mm thick.

DIN rails are used throughout the world in a wide variety of industrial applications. They have become a permanent feature of cabinets, junction boxes and machines.
